Summertime

I’ve been feeling a little off lately, maybe a little antsy, and I think it’s because I haven’t bought any plants in almost a month.

A whole month!

Crocosmia ‘Golden Fleece’, Colocasia  ‘Coffee Cups’ and Colocasia esculenta ‘Black Coral’

The ground is dry and hard now, so there’s no point in purchasing plants for the ground. I just have to water and weed and deadhead and that’s not nearly as much fun.

But wait! I could buy more pots and plants for those pots! Who wants to go shopping?

Yes to shopping…always a yes to shopping! I haven't watered the hell strips at all this summer (which is awesome, btw), but I was gonna wedge a sedum piece that snapped off last weekend…I couldn't dig a hole in that ground no matter what…it's like cement now!

That's exactly what I've been doing! Oh, and plotting my fall planting plans…

I've been doing that too . . . it's so agonizing because I want to put things in NOW!

I think we should hit Xera, at the very least. We haven't yet been together!

I'm planning for the fall. I already have a backlog of plants that are waiting to go into redone beds, so I'm not buying anything new. I seriously don't want to wish summer away, but I do want to get those plants in the ground, so I don't have to keep watering them and worrying that they'll perish between now and fall.

I’m always game for nursery hopping…just name the time!

But plants are so cheap now. I just got a beauty from Fred Meyer for $4.49…and it's supposed to rain tomorrow! Can you believe that I call that looking on the bright side?

If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

I just bought 5 Autumn Joy sedum for a buck a piece at our local Lowe's. Buying more pots is always an option. I have 68 so far. What's a few more? 🙂

Plant shopping is always the answer! And you should come up to the Heronswood open and plant sale on Sept. 7! We'll be doing a tour of some great nurseries in the area!

No new plants but weeding and dead heading can be fun too 🙂 Enjoy the summer, you'll be plant shopping again sooner than you think!
